Volleyball Recap: Johns Creek Gladiators vs. Dunwoody Wildcats

Johns Creek had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Dunwoody Wildcats by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Gladiators also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2023.

While Johns Creek might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Dunwoody scored at least 16 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-16.

Johns Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Norah Giles out in front who had six digs and four aces. That's the most aces Giles has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Henley Sims, who had four digs and 11 assists.

Johns Creek was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunwoody only served three.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabriela Sarmiento, who had nine kills, four digs, and a block. Alexa Keefe was another key player, getting four digs, two blocks, and a kill.

Johns Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Dunwoody, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-19 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Johns Creek and Lanier will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dunwoody, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Milton on the 3rd.
