McDowell is a perfect 10-0 against Owen since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Warhorses at 6:30 p.m.
McDowell is leaving town to face Owen after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Titans came up short against R-S Central on Friday, falling 18-7.
Skyler Rigdon and Danny Brown did some serious damage despite the final result: Rigdon went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Brown went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jay'Ron Moore, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Owen had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Rosman with a sharp 15-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warhorses in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Houston Mashburn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Owen let Jackson Warnock and Gavin Hooks run wild. Warnock went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Hooks went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Hooks a new career-high. Braeden Burrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Everything went McDowell's way against Owen in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as McDowell made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
