Softball Recap: Catskill Comes Up Short

Catskill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks. The Cats lost against the Riverhawks in their previous head to head back in April of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 26-4 score last time.

Ava Edmonds was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sloane Story, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Catskill's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Coxsackie-Athens, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Catskill will challenge rival Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Coxsackie-Athens is set to take on their familiar foe Cairo-Durham at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
