Softball Game Preview: Youngker Roughriders vs. Canyon View Jaguars

The Youngker Roughriders are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Canyon View Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Youngker is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They fell 13-8 to Odyssey Institute.

Meanwhile, Canyon View put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Horizon.

Emily Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Sedona Hernandez and Brooke Downs did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Downs scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Downs a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Andrea Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Canyon View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon only posted an OBP of .321.

Canyon View's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Youngker, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
