League recap: Caldwell County wins, gets boost in standings

Caldwell County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in 2A District 1. Earlier in the week, the Tigers triumphed over Ballard Memorial 56-20.

Caldwell County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,349 from 8,252. The advance stemmed from a 56-20 victory over the Bombers last week.

Reidland's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Greyhounds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Alex Almon has thrown for 123 yards this season, while Cody McClintock has three catches for 73 yards. Austin Ringstaff leads the league in rushing with 314 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Murray takes on Ballard Memorial. At the moment, the Tigers are in first, while John Elliott's team is in fifth.

David Barnes's team led 2A District 1 in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Bombers.
