Football Recap: Excel Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Excel extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of the Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average over those games.

It was another big night for Shamar Toodle, who threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 68 yards on only six carries. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Aaron Ward was Toodle's top target, picking up 155 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Excel will welcome Blacksher at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 8.5 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, they will host Choctaw County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Warriors 12.2, the Tigers 13) so any points scored will be well earned.
