Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jay County). Everything went their way against the Cowan Blackhawks on Saturday as they made off with a 23-4 win. Considering the Patriots have won 12 contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Carley Trinidad was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Jaelynn Lykins was a standout: she fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and two doubles while going 5-for-5. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Missicano, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Jay County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 28 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
