Soccer Game Preview: Stansbury vs. Jordan

The Stansbury Stallions will take on the Jordan Beetdiggers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Stansbury fought the good fight in their overtime match against Layton Christian Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. Stansbury's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Jordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Cottonwood. One reason for the loss might be Jordan's aggressive play style: three Jordan players were handed yellow cards.

Their goal came courtesy of Billy Ostler, which was the first he's scored this season.

Jordan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Stansbury, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Everything went Stansbury's way against Jordan in their previous matchup back in April, as Stansbury made off with a 4-1 victory. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Beetdiggers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
