Softball Game Preview: Eastlake Titans vs. Steele Canyon Cougars

The Eastlake Titans will face off against the Steele Canyon Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastlake will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Eastlake is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since March 5th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Point Loma 5-4.

Addison Suriano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastlake's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaili Balajadia, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Bri Ayap also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Steele Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat La Costa Canyon on Friday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Mavericks: they've now lost three in a row.

Eastlake's win bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for Steele Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.

Eastlake skirted past Steele Canyon 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
