Basketball Game Preview: Cosby Titans vs. James River Midlothian Rapids

Cosby hasn't had much luck against James River Midlothian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Cosby will be strutting in after a win while James River Midlothian will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Cosby humbled Powhatan with a 65-33 victory. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 30 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, James River Midlothian was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a blow against Manchester, falling 81-25. While losing is never fun, the Rapids can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Lancers are ranked 17th).

James River Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Cosby, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Cosby suffered a grim 76-50 defeat to James River Midlothian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Cosby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
