Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Loss

Hillcrest lost against Escambia County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hillcrest Jaguars lost 65-44 to the Escambia County Blue Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Jaguars have suffered against the Blue Devils since February 5, 2021.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sky'La Mixon posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Williams, who had nine points.

Hillcrest is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11. As for Escambia County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Hillcrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-38 victory against Flomaton on the 3rd. As for Escambia County, they have also already played their next game, a 63-4 win against W.S. Neal on the 31st.
