Recap: Washington Union Panthers vs. Central Valley Christian Cavaliers

The Washington Union Panthers pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 74-60 to Central Valley Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Washington Union of the 47-45 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Washington Union lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jasiah Woods. Despite the final result, he made all 7 shots he took from beyond the arc racking up 36 points and 1 assist. That's the first time this season that Woods scored 15 or more points. Kado Felder was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Leading Central Valley Christian to victory were Aj Johnson and Justin Stroud. Johnson scored 20 points, while Stroud scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erick Estrella, who scored 12 points.

Washington Union has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Central Valley Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Washington Union won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central on January 13th. Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Washington Union in California (Central is ranked 212th, while Washington Union is ranked 912th). Central Valley Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Kennedy at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Kennedy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
