Softball Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. Hoggard Vikings        
        
		
            
 Laney had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with  an   8-3  victory over the Hoggard Vikings. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Laney also won the last time the pair played  back in March.
  Makenzi Curry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in six consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Taylor Lee and  Layla Carr did most of the damage at the plate:  Lee  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 4-for-4, while  Carr  went 1-for-5 with a  home run and three  RBI.  Bailey Bettencourt was another key contributor,  going 3-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 On Hoggard's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Macey Ciamillo, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Laney is  on a roll lately: they've  won ten of their last 11 games,  which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record  this season. As for Hoggard, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laney will  square off against West Brunswick at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Hoggard, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Topsail at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Hoggard is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.4  runs per game  this season.
