Baseball Recap: Warrensburg-Latham Wins Going Away Against Clinton

Warrensburg-Latham hadn't beaten Clinton on the road since May 29, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Maroons. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Trenton Bridges made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Evan Gottman was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Kristopher Lawson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Warrensburg-Latham lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Warrensburg-Latham pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Clinton, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warrensburg-Latham will take on Riverton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clinton, they will square off against Mt. Pulaski at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight.
