Football Recap: Billingsley Bears vs. Fayetteville Wolves
After flying high against Greensboro last Friday, Billingsley came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Fayetteville Wolves by a score of 43-40 on Thursday. The Bears lost against the Wolves in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 44-18 score last time.

Loss or not, Billingsley got some senior leadership from Kyle Boice and Kaden Cotton. Boice rushed for 169 yards and three scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, while Cotton rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Cotton's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 110 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Fayetteville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Hammonds out in front who rushed for 160 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Hammonds posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Presley Duke was another key player, rushing for 66 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.
Billingsley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Fayetteville, their record is now 2-0.
Billingsley and Fayetteville will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bears will take on rival Autauga Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Fayetteville is set to challenge their familiar foe Wadley at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
