Basketball Game Preview: Thurston Colts vs. Crater Comets

Thurston hasn't had much luck against Crater recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Thurston Colts will be playing at home against the Crater Comets at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Thurston slipped by North Eugene 37-36.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crater). They blew past Ashland, posting a 98-15 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Comets who have now won five contests in a row.

Crater pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.4 points. As for Thurston, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.

Thurston was dealt a bruising 69-31 defeat at the hands of Crater in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Thurston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
