Baseball Recap: B O L D Comes Up Short

B O L D extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montevideo Thunderhawks. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.

As for Montevideo, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Montevideo's part, Gannon Reidinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Reidinger has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Montevideo got a big performance out of Griffin Epema, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was Epema's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gunlogson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Montevideo beat B O L D by a score of 9-1 later that day.
