Basketball Game Preview: Phoenix Academy Firebirds vs. Piedmont Classical Bobcats

The Phoenix Academy Firebirds just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Piedmont Classical Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Phoenix Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Phoenix Academy took a blow against College Prep & Leadership Academy, falling 81-30. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while the Royals are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Piedmont Classical, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 44-36 victory over Cornerstone Charter on Wednesday. The 44-point effort marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Phoenix Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Piedmont Classical, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
