Basketball Recap: Mountain Heritage Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Mountain Heritage entered their contest against Pisgah on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mountain Heritage Cougars took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pisgah Bears. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-49 back in December of 2024.

Mountain Heritage's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly Neill, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Neill a new career-high in rebounds. Peyton Mckinney also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Mountain Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Chandler Lowery, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards for Pisgah. Lowery continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Devlin, who posted six points.

Mountain Heritage's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for Pisgah, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Mountain Heritage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-60 victory against Avery County on the 22nd. Pisgah has also already played their next contest, a 67-37 win against Smoky Mountain on the 21st.
