Volleyball Recap: Upperman Takes a Loss

Upperman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Blackman Blaze. While the Bees didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blaze 25-17 in the first set.

While Upperman ultimately came up short, they really made Blackman work, particularly in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-14, 20-25, 26-24, 15-11.

Ty Kirby paced Upperman's offense, picking up 18 kills. Kirby got some help from Beau Naylor and his 29 assists. Naylor was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Upperman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Blackman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Upperman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Valor College Prep on the 21st. Hopefully Blackman paid attention to the Bees' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bees at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
