Southwest Central league recap: 5/29/12

Clever (28-3, 7-1) is red-hot, having won seven straight games, the longest such streak in Southwest Central. The streak was extended by another two games over the past week, including a 9-5 victory over Hartville and a 9-5 win over Hartville. Ranger Curtis's hot bat led the team this week, as he racked up four hits and three RBIs.

Billings currently leads the league with a 7-2 record overall and a 5-0 mark during league play. The Blue Jays are -0.5 game back and in second place with a 7-1 league record.

Clever's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 14 hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. The Blue Jays have given up a mere 139 hits on the year, while striking out 238 opposing hitters. Jordan Burnett is the leader in that category with 69 Ks on the season.
