Baseball Preview: Western Branch Bruins vs. Nansemond River Warriors        
        
		
            
 After five games on the road, Western Branch is heading back home. They will take on the Nansemond River Warriors at 5:45  p.m.  on Thursday. The last three games Western Branch has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
 On Tuesday,  it was close, but  Western Branch sidestepped Oscar Smith for  a  2-1 win.
  Miles Melescu tossed a big game,   striking out seven batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Seth Sadler, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-1.
 Meanwhile, Nansemond River was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They lost  16-1 to Hickory.
 Western Branch is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record  this season. As for Nansemond River, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
 Western Branch took their  victory against Nansemond River  when the teams last played  back in March by a conclusive  12-3. Does  Western Branch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nansemond River turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
