Preview: Yorba Linda Mustangs vs. Moorpark Musketeers

Yorba Linda is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Moorpark is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Yorba Linda Mustangs will take on the Moorpark Musketeers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Yorba Linda's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven games.

Last Thursday, Yorba Linda strolled past Foothill with points to spare, taking the game 45-29.

Holden Nagin and Chase Jones were among the main playmakers for Yorba Linda as the former threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes and the latter rushed for 118 yards and four touchdowns. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Roberts, who picked up 36 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Moorpark stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Agoura, posting a 55-28 victory on the road. Given Moorpark's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Agoura is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Luke Cochran was his usual excellent self, rushing for 322 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per carry. Cochran's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards. Another player making a difference was Elijah Hensley, who threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Moorpark's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Nicholas Andrade and his five sacks.

Yorba Linda is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Moorpark, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
