Preview: Spring Valley Grizzlies vs. Coronado Cougars
The Spring Valley Grizzlies will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Coronado Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Spring Valley is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Spring Valley pushed their score all the way to 68 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Spring Valley and Sierra Vista wasn't particularly close, with Spring Valley falling 82-68.
Despite the loss, Spring Valley got a solid performance out of Alijah Adem, who scored 31 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Adem hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Joshua, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Coronado faced Mojave in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coronado walked away with an 81-72 win over Mojave on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Spring Valley's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
