Preview: Hamilton Wildcats vs. Prestonsburg Blackcats
The Hamilton Wildcats and the Prestonsburg Blackcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Hamilton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Germantown. While losing is never fun, Hamilton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Germantown is ranked 45th).
Despite the loss, Hamilton had strong showings from Timothy Matthews, who scored 21 points along with three steals, and Rodney Mcneal, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Terron Cade, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Prestonsburg pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-58 to Shelby Valley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Prestonsburg has scored all season.
Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Prestonsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
