Softball Game Preview: Eureka Loggers vs. McKinleyville Panthers

Eureka hasn't had much luck against McKinleyville recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Loggers will face off against the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Eureka and Arcata have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Loggers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Loggers have posted against the Tigers since April 1, 2023.

Mackenze Wolff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Childress, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Megan Secor, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Eureka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McKinleyville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Fortuna 3-2.

Eureka's record is now 5-7. As for McKinleyville, their record now sits at 6-3.
