Volleyball Recap: Rachel Jackson Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat West Columbus

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pender, Union was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the West Columbus Vikings 3-0. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 27-25, 25-12.

Union's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Jackson, who had five aces and two blocks. That's the most aces Jackson has posted since back in September of 2024.

Union's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for West Columbus, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Union will head out on the road to face off against Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Columbus, they will welcome East Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
