Auburn came tearing into Friday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 victory over the Athens Warriors. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Warriors are ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Athens' loss came despite strong showings from Sawyer Hill and Cody Tobias. Hill posted 17 points and five assists, while Tobias went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Tobias a new career-high. Carter Brock also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Auburn pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.

Auburn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-43 loss against Pleasant Plains on the 4th. Athens has also already played their next matchup, a 68-43 defeat against Carlinville on the 1st.
