Basketball Game Preview: Rock Hill Redmen vs. Fairland Dragons

Rock Hill is 0-10 against Fairland since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Rock Hill Redmen will host the Fairland Dragons at 7:30 p.m.

Rock Hill is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Ironton, falling 72-46. While losing is never fun, the Redmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Fighting Tigers are ranked 164th).

Despite the loss, Rock Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kelan Davidson dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Davidson has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. Izaak Cox was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Rock Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairland). They blew past Symmes Valley 76-53 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Dragons sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Fairland's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Rock Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Rock Hill was taken down by Fairland 60-20 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Rock Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
