Basketball Recap: Safford Bulldogs vs. Sabino Sabercats
After flying high against the Globe Tigers last Wednesday, the Safford Bulldogs came back down to earth. Safford received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 61-46 to the Sabercats. Safford was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sabercats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Jayda Haley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds for Sabino. Haley hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Haley Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Safford's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Sabino, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Safford will take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sabino, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th.
