Munster entered their tilt with Kankakee Valley on Friday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came out on top against the Kougars by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in April.

Kaylee O'Connell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Munster got a big performance out of Cece Mason, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Mason has posted since back in May of 2024. Olivia Andriessen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Munster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kankakee Valley only posted a batting average of .207.

Munster's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kankakee Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Munster and Kankakee Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Mustangs will challenge Hanover Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (6 vs. 58). Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley (ranked 48th) will meet Rensselaer Central (ranked 158th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
