Baseball Recap: Sunlake Has No Trouble Against Zephyrhills

Sunlake won the last time they faced Zephyrhills and things went their way on Thursday too. Sunlake never let Zephyrhills get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Seahawks yet this season.

Cameron Nunez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Matt Anthony was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Andre Monzon II was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Sunlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zephyrhills only managed one hit.

The win made it two in a row for Sunlake and bumps their season record up to 9-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Zephyrhills, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Coming up, Sunlake will welcome Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Sunlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Zephyrhills, they will venture away from home to take on Tenoroc at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Zephyrhills is facing Tenoroc at the right time seeing as Tenoroc is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
