Volleyball Recap: Basic's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

Basic took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Southeast Career Tech, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves skirted past the Roadrunners 3-2. For the Wolves, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Roadrunners walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.

Basic was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (106-103), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 12-25, 18-16.

Basic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tatyana Gonzales, who had 27 digs and seven assists. With that strong performance, Gonzales is now averaging an impressive 10.5 digs per game. Ava Rivera was another key player, getting 15 digs and two aces.

Eliza Melgar and Mikaela Fellows certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Melgar had six digs and three aces, while Fellows had 16 kills, five digs, and two aces. Fellows is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Basic's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Southeast Career Tech, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 14-7.

Basic has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Valley on the 10th. As for Southeast Career Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Silverado on the 10th.
