League recap: Hutchinson stuns Derby in upset

Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I recap Oct. 9, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hutchinson, who took down second ranked Derby, 31-28.

Mike Jones of South ran for the longest rushing play in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I this season against Newton last week. Jones ran for 84 yards on the play and finished with 124 on the day as his team beat the Railroaders.

South's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Justin Stonebraker threw for 107 and two touchdowns and Zach Nachbar had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Cody Busby chipped in 138 yards. Aaron Mar helped South's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.

6-foot-0 quarterback John Becker of Haysville Campus is the league leader in passing yards this season with 594. He has also thrown one touchdown. On the ground, Sam Sellers' team's Busby has rushed for 818 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nachbar. The South star has 15 catches for 322 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cougars take on Central. As it stands, South is in first, while the Mustangs are in sixth.

Maize took down the Colts 34-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
