Baseball Recap: Tupelo Takes a Loss

Tupelo came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-5 to the Mooreville Troopers. The Golden Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Troopers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Dayne Wray was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Brody Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Hayes Hooker was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Tupelo has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Mooreville, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Tupelo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-2 defeat against Lafayette on the 15th. As for Mooreville, they have also already played their next match, a 12-6 loss against East Union on the 14th.
