Basketball Recap: Mekhi Belote Key Part of a Team Effort in Lobos Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cleveland, Los Amigos was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Chino Cowboys with a 66-61 victory.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Los Amigos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Belote, who went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Philip Steinert, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Chino lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shawn Jamison Jr, who posted 17 points and six rebounds. Jamison Jr's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dario Shields, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

Los Amigos' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Chino, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Los Amigos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-46 loss against King on the 28th. As for Chino, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-58 victory against Whittier on the 28th.
