Bishop Feehan hasn't had much luck against Mansfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Shamrocks will head out to take on the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Bishop Feehan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
If Bishop Feehan beats Mansfield with four runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Shamrocks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over St. Mary's on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Shamrocks have posted since April 17th.
Bishop Feehan got a great performance from Jack Gasse as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. Gasse has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Webster, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, while Mansfield put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for North Attleborough. The Hornets put the hurt on the Rocketeers with a sharp 8-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.
Luke Rogan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ethan Kucharski was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Mansfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Darrian Sanders also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bishop Feehan's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mansfield, their record now sits at 10-8.
Mansfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Feehan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Mansfield, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Bishop Feehan's hitters?
