Basketball Recap: Macks Creek Pirates vs. Wheatland Mules

The Macks Creek Pirates waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Wheatland with a 56-50 win. This was a revenge match for Macks Creek, as the team was forced to settle for a 39-37 loss when these two played last Thursday.

India Willis was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Ratliff, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Macks Creek pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Wheatland, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Macks Creek's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. Dadeville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 514th, while the Pirates are ranked 85th). As for Wheatland, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Greenfield is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
