After flying high against Pinellas Park on Wednesday, Countryside came back down to earth. The Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 51-50 to the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Rodriguez, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jontrell Hatcher, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Harbor University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jez Ferrer, who shot 60% from the field en route to 20 points. Ferrer has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Dominguez, who put up nine points and five steals.
The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-2. As for Palm Harbor University, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Countryside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Palm Harbor University, they will head out to take on Seminole at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
