Baseball Game Preview: Tyrone Golden Eagles vs. Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers

The Tyrone Golden Eagles will take on the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tyrone is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Tyrone after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Central by a score of 6-5.

Meanwhile, Hollidaysburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Clearfield last Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Tigers.

Brady Steiner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Josh Banks was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jay Albarano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Hollidaysburg pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tyrone, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Tyrone suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Hollidaysburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
