Baseball Game Preview: Tabb Tigers vs. New Kent Trojans

The Tabb Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the New Kent Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Tabb will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Tabb got the win against Jamestown by a conclusive 13-2. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday New Kent sidestepped York for a 7-6 win. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Michael Hetzel and Ty Staub were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hetzel tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Staub didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hetzel went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Staub went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Staub has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Bryce Hochman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Tyler Warren also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Tabb pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for New Kent, their record is now 11-2.

Tabb might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from New Kent in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
