Baseball Recap: Northeastern Clinton Gets the Win

Northeastern Clinton won the last time they faced Richford and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Falcons 6-5. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Baylon Cronkrite was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

Cronkrite wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Wells, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Northeastern Clinton and bumps their season record up to 4-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Richford, they dropped their record down to 0-5-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeastern Clinton will welcome Franklin Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richford, they will host Blue Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
