Baseball Game Preview: Maize Eagles vs. Blue Valley West Jaguars

The Maize Eagles will face off against the Blue Valley West Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Maize will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Maize proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Andover Central 3-1.

Parker Meirowsky was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Blue Valley West beat Veritas Christian 6-3 back in March.

Braden Johnson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cade Wysong, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Nash Kindler was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Blue Valley West's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Maize, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Maize couldn't quite get it done against Blue Valley West in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
