Baseball Game Preview: South Putnam Eagles vs. Brown County Eagles

South Putnam will take on Brown County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Putnam has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for South Putnam's offense. They lost 11-0 to Danville on Monday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

South Putnam saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenny McDaniel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Brown County suffered their closest loss since April 30, 2025 on Saturday. They fell just short of Clarksville by a score of 5-3.

Barrett Lasley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

South Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Brown County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Putnam has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brown County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went South Putnam's way against Brown County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as South Putnam made off with a 12-0 victory. Does South Putnam have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brown County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
