League recap: Cedaredge extends winning streak with victory over Roaring Fork

1A Western Slope recap Oct. 9, 2012

Cedaredge extended the longest winning streak in 1A Western Slope this week by beating Roaring Fork, 42-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Hotchkiss's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Hardin threw for 118 and two touchdowns and Conner Beard had 73 yards receiving. On the ground Jacobe Galley chipped in 309 yards. Chris Allen helped Hotchkiss' passing attack out by catching two balls for 22 yards.

Russ Evans made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs bested Lake County. The senior forced one fumble and grabbed 3.0 sacks.

On the ground, Hotchkiss' Galley has rushed for 1138 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Beard. The Hotchkiss star has 10 catches for 307 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cedaredge takes on Meeker. As it stands, the Bruins are in first, while the Cowboys are in fourth.

The Rams made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,859 from 12,999. The advance stemmed from a 42-0 victory over Roaring Fork last week.
