Recap: Sedgwick Cardinals vs. Valley Heights Mustangs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Sedgwick Cardinals can now relate to. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valley Heights on Friday. Sedgwick's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Sedgwick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Corey Crumrine. Despite the final result, he threw for 477 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Scarlett, who picked up 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Sedgwick's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Valley Heights, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Sedgwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valley Heights will face off against Medicine Lodge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Medicine Lodge is ranked 87th, while Valley Heights is ranked 83rd).
