Volleyball Recap: South Loup Takes a Loss

South Loup was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Cozad Haymakers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Loup of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While South Loup was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Cozad's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-17.

Emma Stallbaumer paced South Loup's offense, picking up seven kills. Stallbaumer got some help from Rae Hagler and her 11 assists. Finally, Stallbaumer was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

South Loup's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Cozad, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

South Loup didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against West Holt on the 11th. As for Cozad, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Hemingford on the 11th.
