Softball Recap: Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 23-8 to the Summit Shasta Black Bears. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Lions' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Summit Shasta, their win bumped their record up to 3-1. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded them with their most commanding win of the season.

For Summit Shasta's part, the team relied heavily on Dani Reese Bell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those stolen bases were Bell's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aliana Escobar Medrano, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy will welcome Latino College Preparatory Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Summit Shasta, they will face off against Design Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Black Bears will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
