Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Shady Spring's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

After only two runs in their last matchup, Shady Spring made sure to put some runs up on the board against Independence on Thursday. The Tigers came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 13-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-2 last Wednesday.

Shady Spring let Aiden Calvert and Aiden Brown run wild. Calvert went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Brown got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Brown a new career-high. Spencer Morgan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Shady Spring has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Independence, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9-1 record.

Coming up, Shady Spring will be playing in front of their home fans against Nicholas County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Independence, they will venture away from home to challenge PikeView at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
