Softball Recap: Garrard County Triumphs

Garrard County proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Boyle County Rebels 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Lions have posted since April 21st.

Emily Hounshell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Hounshell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Jordon, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Garrard County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-15. As for Boyle County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-18.

As of now, neither Garrard County nor the Rebels have any future games scheduled.
